Dr. Loggie has held positions at Wake Forest University Medical Center in Winston-Salem, North Carolina and the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center, Dallas Texas.

Dr. Loggie’s field of expertise is surgical oncology. While at Wake Forest in the early 1990’s, he was struck by the limited options available to his patients with rare abdominal cancers. Inspired by their lack of options, he pioneered the use of intraperitoneal heated chemotherapy and cytoreductive surgery. Cytoreductive surgery is the removal of all visible cancer of the abdominal cavity. Once completed the area is bathed for two hours with heated chemotherapy. The chemotherapy is heated to 106 degrees Fahrenheit. The idea is that this will kill the cancer cells that are not visible to the naked eye. This approach has saved many people’s lives and given quality time to many others.

In addition to being a pioneer in developing intraperitoneal heated chemotherapy, that can be for peritoneal mesothelioma, his research has led the way in the mutations associated with peritoneal mesothelioma. He has studied the new and existing mutations in the tyrosine kinase domain of the Epidermal Growth Factor as predictors in how successful the resection could be for peritoneal mesothelioma.

Dr. Loggie has received numerous awards and honors over the course of his career. He has been chosen as one of America’s Top Doctors in 2010 to present. He also is the author of numerous publications related to Mesothelioma. He holds professional memberships of the American Society of Clinical Oncology and The American College of Surgeons. He has numerous publications and is a respected expert in his field. After the earthquake in Haiti Dr. Loggie led a team from Creighton University to assist the victims of that devastating event.

In addition to his many accomplishments one of the most impressive has to be what his patients say about him. Many, many patients thank him for his care, and mention his calm bed side manner. Since coming to Creighton he has treated patients from approximately 40 states and some foreign countries.

The mesothelioma community is fortunate to have such a respected, leader in the quest for treatments leading to a cure for mesothelioma. His contact information for Dr. Loggie is 402-717-0090 or email info@alegent.org.
